Todo el mundo By Gaurav Doshi Seam is the joint between the two parts of a garment. For the perfect fitting and look of the garment seam appearance and its strength has to be proper. Many factors like appropriate sewing, needle size and its type, fabrics used and its weight, stitches done on the garment, seam construction and tension level of thread influences the strength of seam. Seam strength testing is basically an examination of the amount of pressure required to tear or break the seam of the garment. Measurement of seam strength is a part of quality control procedure which is essential for garments. The fabrics are tested for it in the machine that checks the point at which the seam breakage occurs. There are many problems associated with the seam strength if there is any fault during making of seam, for instance- the seam and fabric splits at same point of time and sometimes the seam is safe but the fabric tears off :-
Various criteria associated with appropriate seam implementation: Stitch and seam construction The best available option of stitch to ensure strong seams is Locked stitch as in this stitch there is interlocking of the threads which increases the seam strength. There are various types of seam constructions, the list is as follows:- a) Decorative Seam As the name suggests this seam is done for decorating the garment. This is done on one or more than one layer of fabric through many rows of stitches sewn on them. b) Super Imposed Seam Superimposing the seam is the simplest and widely used type of seam construction. The border of one piece is kept on another piece of fabric, then sewn together. c) Applied Seam When some outside material other than the fabric itself like lace, patch, etc are sewn on the seam or edge of the garment, it is known as applied seam. d) Bound Seam This seam is also used for decorative purpose. Here the edges are attached by means of tapes or through self binding. e) Single Ply Construction Seam This seam is constructed from single layer or piece of fabric. Generally used for manufacturing belts and belts loops.
f) Edge Neatening Here the edges of the fabric are trimmed, hemmed and folded through stitches. g) Lapped Seam This is the strongest type of seam usually used for denims. Here the seam is done on the fabrics overlapped.
Sewing needle There are many factors associated with sewing needle which are important from the viewpoint for better seam strength and appearance. The diameter of the needle, the shape of its tip and size of the eye hole of the needle affects the seam construction of the garment. The size of the eye hole of the needle should be in accordance with the thickness of the thread. If the needle hole is smaller and does not provide effortless passing of the thread then there is the possibility of wearing out of the thread during use of the garment. And if the needle hole is larger and the thread is finer than the level required, mis-stitch might result due to low quality of loop formation and thread control. Thus proper ratio of size and type of sewing needle and thread is required. Also to avoid harm to the fabric due to excessive heating of needles while stitching special needles have been developed like- titanium nitride coated needle. Fabric type and weight Seam strength and its performance also depends upon the various characteristics of fabrics used. The material of the fabric, the type of fabric weave, thread count, the pattern positioning, type of yarn and seam direction. Thread type, construction, size and finish The type of the thread used, its construction, size and finishing influences the seam strength of the garment. There are many types of threads like cotton thread, polyester thread, silk threads, etc. It is a known thing that polyester thread is more durable than cotton thread. However the type of thread used depends upon the fabrics being used, for eg.- for silk fabrics silk thread is used. There are different types of thread construction like multifilament, core, spun, textured, etc. Continuous filament core threads provide better seam strength compared to other construction of threads. Different thread sizes are available in market but finest thread are preferred more as longer length of finer threads can be wind around the lockstitch machine and they do not acquire much space in the seam. This avoids seam puckering. Sewing threads elasticity should match to the elasticity of the fabric used. Also the whole length of the thread should have equal elasticity level throughout its reel which ensures proper stitches. If it is not proper then it could result into tearing of fabric or thread breakage of the garment. Different fabrics require threads of different elasticity, for instance threads used for knitted, synthetic or woven fabrics are different.
Thread tension or Stitch balance The sewing machine tension should be well adjusted in order to get good stitch. In case of loose thread tension while stitching, it would result into lower seam strength, and if thread tension is high then it might lead to puckering. It is advisable to set medium level of thread tension in sewing machines. Also the parts of the sewing machine should be well oiled and smooth enough to ensure lower loss of thread, smooth and flawless stitching or damage to the thread used.
Conclusion Hence from the above mentioned factors essential if are put into consideration while manufacturing of seam of the garments, it would surely result into flawless garment production and better seam presentation and durability. For export houses these points are to be taken care of. The trick is to use matching needle type and size, thread finish, type, size and construction, type of seam construction and adjusting appropriate thread tension in accordance with the fabric type and weight also the method of stitching being used. Todo el mundo By Dr John Anne Causes and Symptoms: High blood pressure, or hypertension to give it its proper medical name, is the most common form of high blood pressure. Its causes include kidney disease, disorders, of the endocrine glands and malfunctioning or disorders of the arteries. A congenital abnormality of the aorta is one of the most serious forms of hypertension. Its chief symptoms are headache, usually in the back of the head, ringing in the ears, giddiness. Headache is worst at the time of waking in the morning and it has a tendency to wear off during the day. While hypertension runs its natural course, it usually causes death in the ends as a result of heart failure. A proportion of the victims dies of kidney failure and some of a stroke. The earlier the onset of hypertension, the proper is the life expectancy. A large number of deaths supposed to have occurred from heart disease were really the handiwork of hypertension left uncontrolled. Hypertension can be either functional or organic: the latter is the case when the fatty substance accumulates in the smaller arteries carrying blood to the heart. The openings being smaller, the heart has to best faster and exercise more pressure to supply the blood to the various organs. Hence the higher blood pressure. The Real Culprit: Hypertension is a disease of the modern civilization. Its incidence has increased during the last 50 years. The fast pace of life, the mental and physical pressures under which man in the present industrial and metropolitan environment works, gives rise to psychological tensions. Hypertension makes its victim a less than useful member of society. He cannot do any serious work, feels tired and out of sorts all the time. Never does he have a feeling of freshness even if he has full sleep. Difficulty in breathing may be experienced by him and dyspepsia is his constant companion. Mental strain and an artificial way of life is the real culprit. Less physical work, a sedentary life, too much of intoxicants, tea, coffee, refined foods, destroy the natural pace of life. The expulsion of waste and poisonous matter from the body is hampered and the arteries and the veins become slack. Modern medicine believers that a healthy person should have a systolic pressure (at the best of the heart) of 100 mm plus age and diastolic pressure (between) the beats of the heart) should be 80 mm plus age. The blood pressure is accurately measured by an instrument known as sphygmomanometer. The pressure, if it is abnormally high, is accompanied by disease of the arteries. The blood pressure normally increases with the advance of age, due to the hardening of the arteries. But it is an indication of ill health; if one is healthy, the normal systolic blood pressure should range between 120 to 140 mm of Hg. And diastolic should range between 70 to 80 mm of Hg. Whatsoever the age is after 20 years. Kidney diseases, hardening of the arteries and severe constipation leading to absorption of morbid humours through the gut lead to high blood pressure. Smoking is another addiction, which leads to hypertension. Smoke a cigare3tte and then have your blood pressure, taken: it will be some points more than the normal. Treatment: Drugs prescribed by traditional Physicians may temporarily reduce blood pressure, but they are harmful in the final analysis. The best way to reduce is to remove the real cause. High pressure of blood is only a symptom of the poisonous matter, which causes it and the naturopathic way to dealing with it is to remove the poisons from the system. Again, the ingestion of fresh fruits and vegetables instead of a traditional diet is helpful in ridding the body of the poisons, which cause high blood pressure. A hypertension patient, if he is not too weak, should start the process of healing by living on fruit and vegetables for at least a week. The best course would be to take only fruits at five hourly intervals only thrice in the day. Breakfast should consist of oranges, lunch of guava and dinner of tomatoes, or apples. Fruits like oranges, apples, pears, mangoes, guava, pineapples, raspberry, and muskmelon are the best diet in such cases. Bananas and jackfruits should be avoided. After a week of fruits only diet, milk should be added. Milk should preferably be of cow or goat and should be fresh. It should be boiled only once. After two weeks, the patient can be permitted cereal in his food. The best would be porridge. Vegetables are also good for a patient of high blood pressure. A salt free diet is the best; if you must take it, take it 25% of the normal quantity. Vegetables should preferably be raw. If they are cooked, cook them with the rind on and do not let their natural juices burn in the process of cooking vegetables like cucumber, carrot, tomatoes, onion, radishes, cabbage and spinach are best taken in their raw form. They may be cut into small pieces and sprinkled with a little bit of salt and the juice of a lemon added to them in order to make them more palatable.
The second step is to deal with a constipated bowel. During the period that fruits are the mainstay of the patient, he should take a warm water enema every day in order to clear his bowels. If the patient is too sick to take exercise, let him massage his body; otherwise he should take exercise. Massage should be away from heart and towards the limbs and their extremities. As the blood pressure shows signs of abating, take more exercise. Avoid too much straining of the heart. Breathe deeply while you are walking or taking exercise. Rub your body with a rough towel vigorously for five to seven minutes after you have taken your bath. Avoid too cold water; add a little warm water to bring it to body temperature. If you have the patience, rub your body, instead of using a towel use your palms. Early to bed is another cardinal principle, which a person suffering from hypertension must follow. He should get eight hours of restful sleep. Those who find it difficult to sleep can keep their feet in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash them with cold water. The patient must avoid over-straining, worries, tension, anger and haste. He must try to be cheerful. The natural treatment may take some time, but do not lose patience because it is the safest and the best way to get rid of these diseases. Todo el mundo By Jeremy Likness One common question I receive is, What do you do for maintenance? It always takes me by surprise because the concept is alien to me. Maintenance? Granted, when I started this lifestyle, I would have loved to have some vacation waiting for me at the end, and I was certainly thinking about how I would relax things when I achieved my peak physique. Along the journey, however, I learned a true lesson in life: there is never any maintenance. Consider this: the average adult loses several pounds of muscle as they age. This has been studied in thousands of individuals over decades. As a person reaches their golden years, they begin to lose muscle mass. So what is maintenance? Is it losing muscle mass? I dont think so. Even gaining enough muscle mass to counteract the natural loss is progress in my book - you must train hard, intensely, and consume the right foods in order to just maintain your lean mass. The net result is maintenance of your physique, but the training style is far from maintenance. The same thing applies to training in general, even for younger individuals. It is well known that the body is quick to adapt to training. This is why the periodization model of training (which essentially involves changing the way you train over time) is so effective: it constantly manipulates parameters of training to prevent the body from adapting. Because the body is so good at becoming efficient, the longer someone trains, the fewer gains they are likely to make and the more intense their training must become. The converse to this is that because of the high intensity of training, most must rest more to recover as their training advances. Lee Haney once mentioned that he would be happy to put on one pound of muscle in a year. Once again, there is no such thing as maintenance - even doing the same workout will eventually produce fewer results, and send you backwards instead of keeping you at the same place! What does this have to do with the I can, I cant syndrome? The question I always have in return is, Why do you want maintenance? Inevitably, people become tired of living a certain lifestyle. Whether it is due to boredom, over-training, or some other reason, it happens. My own father asked me just recently, Are you still training? Its OK if you arent - working out is something you do for a while and then take a break from. The problem is that if you are too focused on a specific goal such as body fat or weight, then it becomes easy to hit that goal and slip into maintenance mode. If your goal, on the other hand, is total health, then it must become a lifestyle change because there is no maintenance. You dont reach good health just to fall back out of it. The people who yearn for the maintenance mode wake up and tell themselves, I should go work out. This is an inner conversation and while it may not seem significant, it is. I should go work out. This implies a sense of urgency - it is not a desire, but a need being fulfilled. There may be a negative consequence if the action is not performed, so it should be done. Instead of positive reinforcement, this borders on negativity. After weeks of doing something I should do, I, too, would probably want to hit some magical maintenance phase so I wouldnt have to do it anymore. The alternative to this is to work out because you want to. I want to go work out. This is a subtle change to the inner dialogue, but it makes a tremendous difference. Now there is no implied consequence for not doing it. Its not a finger wagging in your face, telling you to do something. It is an inner desire - the action is tied directly to a reward. If you want to do something, there is typically a reward involved - whether it is the satisfaction of accomplishment, the great feeling of good health, or some other positive emotion that springs from the activity. This reminds me of vegetables. Vegetables? When I started to eat healthy, I knew that I should be eating more vegetables. I did not really like vegetables, and the few that I did eat came packaged with a ton of sodium in a can. I yearned for my free day and my breaks between programs so that I didnt have to eat vegetables. I still sucked them down because I knew I should eat them, but I did not want to eat them. Somewhere along the way, I began to enjoy the journey and realize it was about much more than the destination. It suddenly was not just about losing fat - although that was certainly a bonus. It was about living life. It felt good to be in shape. I could tie my shoes and not run out of breath! I could play basketball with my son! We had a great time and being healthy just felt great. I made a conscious decision to tie the sensation of good health into the activities that blessed me with it. One such activity was eating vegetables. While I was still eating them because I should and not because I wanted to, I constantly reminded myself that they were part of what helped me become so healthy. As time progressed, I began to truly appreciate the benefits of vegetables. I studied their composition and learned about phytochemicals and other components that promote good health. I realized that these were something Id need to eat for the rest of my life, so Id better enjoy them. I took some steps towards this. First, I moved from canned veggies to frozen veggies, but added my own seasoning and steamed them until they were mush. Then, I simply steamed them less, to acquire a taste for the crisp, raw flavor, and I seasoned them less. With raw vegetables, I started by dipping them in salad dressing. I then reduced the amount that I dipped and the amount of times that I dipped, and eventually acquired a taste for raw vegetables. I did not by any means reprogram my entire set of tastes. For some odd reason, I still cannot eat raw tomatoes or mushrooms, and I still want to plug my nose when I eat Brussels sprouts. But, for the most part, I enjoy vegetables. I eat them now because I want to ... not because I should. And that means they are not a burden to me or something I need to take a break from - in fact, when I have a splurge meal, I often find myself enjoying a nice plate of roasted asparagus because I want to. The same inner talk can take place with your training as well. You dont enjoy cardio? Neither did I. I hated it. I did it because I knew I should, not because I wanted to. Then a funny thing happened. I had a fight with a hill in my neighborhood. It was one of those straight up and down hills that I couldnt quite make it to the top of. Every time I went out to jog, I set my sights on that hill, and every time, it would defeat me. I had all but given up one day when I realized that I was following the same pattern over and over again - I would start to go up that hill, then Id feel the nausea kick in. And instead of pushing myself to my limits, I would just talk myself into stopping. While cardio was still something I did because I should, that hill was something I wanted to conquer. So I detached my mind from that feeling I got and instead decided to see what my body was made out of. I felt disconnected from my legs and arms as they slowly pushed me up that hill, but when I neared the top, I knew I had it in me. I refused to let my mind distract me (Oh, Jeremy, wouldnt it be nicer to just stop and walk right now?) - I ignored that negative self-talk and pushed through. I conquered it. The feeling of ecstasy at having accomplished this little task on my own was incredible. I savored it, and then an interesting thing happened - I began to crave it. So the next time I performed cardio, I thought about how I could push myself more than I expected. In the past 18 months, this is how every cardio session has been. I dont feel satisfied unless I know I pushed myself to the limit - if I have anything left at the end then I am disappointed. As I step onto my treadmill, however, I realize that things are different now. Im not stepping on because I should; Im stepping on because I want to. Do you truly believe that you have the power to change? Doubt can do many things. I had doubt. I told myself I wanted to become lean. Here, want was not powerful enough. Why? I did not think that I should or could become lean; I just wanted to. But I was only hoping and grasping - a part of me did not think it was truly possible. This creates a negative-feedback loop. When you only want to succeed, then subtle decisions affect the outcome. For example, if you are underneath several pounds of iron in the gym and getting ready to push out another rep, but your arms ache so bad you can barely grip the weight, what are you going to do? If you only want to succeed but dont truly believe that you can, you might decide that the pain is not worth it. So instead of pushing that last rep, you decide to terminate the set and rack the weights. Its okay, it was just one rep, and it wouldnt have been worth it anyway, right? What am I asking for? I just mentioned moving from should to want and now I have an issue with want? Thats right. For certain decisions in your life, its not enough to want them. You must make them happen. Yes! Its not a possibility, but a certainty. Instead of wanting to obtain your peak physique, understand that you will. When you have made the decision to stop wanting and start creating, then you will cross yet another barrier. When you are underneath that same set of weights, youll realize that racking them is not an option. Why? Because you will earn your peak physique, so you must get that last rep in. It IS worth it, because by pushing 110% each and every time, you will reach your goal. This is what changed my fate. Originally I hoped to reach it, I wanted it, but it just wasnt there. When I started changing my perspective, when I focused on my inner dialogue and changed it, this is when I experienced success. I didnt train because I was supposed to; I trained because I wanted to. I didnt eat healthy because I should; I ate healthy because I wanted to. And I wasnt hoping to build my peak physique; I was doing it. So when I looked in the mirror, I didnt think about what I could become, I thought about what I was becoming. Id look at my stomach and see the abs I would create, not the ones that I wished I would have. Only that thin line between want and will made the difference between maintenance and success for me. I want you to avoid negatives, like I cant, because you can. I want you to think positive. But I dont want this to be a mere clich. The words hold no meaning when they are not backed by action. The things you say, feel, and yes, even your own, private thoughts are what sculpt your reality. Every day you have internal conversations with yourself. Instead of letting the doubt creep in, focus on that dialogue and change it. Simply rephrasing your thoughts as I want to or I will, rather than I should or I hope, can make a tremendous difference - in fact, just changing the way you think may be the one last step for you to reach your peak physique. Todo el mundo By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder You dont need to accept the loan interest rate the car dealer offers you.
This may come as a bit of a shock to some car buyers who have begrudgingly
accepted a less than desirable rate because they didnt think there was an
alternative. By doing a bit of research into current loan rates before
purchasing a new car, a person can save lots of cash in the long run.
Secure Financing First
Its a good idea to secure financing for a new car before even picking out the
car. This can be done through a bank or credit union, and it takes a lot of the
pressure off the car-buying process. Many times a dealer may actually be able to
beat the interest rate, and that makes for a win-win situation because you
ultimately wind up with the best rate possible.
Become Familiar with Current Interest Rates
Make sure to check out one of the many websites available that follow and
forecast interest rates. Its good to know what the interest rate trends are for
new car loans before applying; this way there is no surprise if rates are much
higher than you thought. After all, interest rates are constantly changing. Just
because your last car loan was at 3.9%, it doesnt mean youll be able to find a
deal like that on future loans.
Compare Rates Online
Some websites act as loan brokers in the sense that they will take all the
necessary information and disseminate it to several lending institutions in
order to secure the best rate possible. Sometimes the best route to go is
through your own bank. If they have the lowest rates you can find, then there is
no reason to go through all the hassle of applying to many different lenders.
Researching the best new car loan interest rate is really worth it, and can save

Todo el mundo By Vlady Peters The Babylonians swear they were drinking mead when the rest of the world hadnt even been discovered. Both the Greeks and the Romans deny such a possibility. And the Irish state, unequivocally, before the Irish Mead, there was no mead. Say, what you will, though, mead has always been part of the wedding tradition. There is the story, totally unprovable as most of these stories are, that part of the deal of taking his daughter off his hands, the Babylonian groom expected his dad-in-law, to provide him with mead for a month after his marriage. Dont ask me why a father would do that, but there you go. What seems uncontroversial, however, is that mead had wonderful properties, even though it affected different people in different ways. There is that old story, originating thousands of years ago, when Cleisthenes was trying to marry off his daughter to the most talented young Turk around. So, at a feast of notables minus the young woman, fortunately - the two favoured suitors, Megacles and Hippocleides, were given their heads to impress Cleisthenes with their talents. Hippocleides, knowing he was the favored contender, really let himself go. First, he showed off his musical abilities by playing the flute. Then he sang a few ditties. And then, to round off the night, he began to dance. There was no doubt, that as far as the girls father was concerned, Hippocleides was the one. Unfortunately, all this activity was a thirsty work, and as he loved his mead, as the night wore on, he became more and more merry, and would you believe, he reached the stage where the ordinary dancing would just not do. So, like the rap dancers of today, he jumped on the table, did a few tap steps, then with his head on the table, started kicking his legs in the air. Now this was extraordinarily talented and everyone would have found much to admire in these antics, except for one thing. Those were the days when men didnt wear trousers, just little tunics with very little if anything - underneath. So, in the end, mead was his undoing, and the girl ended up with second best. Todo el mundo By Adam Boulton Weeds are plants that disrupt the uniformity of our lawns. They find the weakest spots and can aggressively take over by growing at rapid speeds. Lawn weeds, like all weeds, are able to successfully compete with turfgrass. They take their share of light, water and nutrients. If your lawn is dense and healthy (through proper care) it has the ability to actually crowd out most weed seedlings. So first, get educated on weed weapons. The better you understand how weeds attack, the better you will be able to prevent them. Weed seedlings are the most important weapons in its arsenal. Annuals especially produce large amounts of seed. Crabgrass is one example that produces thousands of seeds each year. As the seeds spread and the soil is disturbed it brings these seeds to the surface to germinate. Thats why it is important to aerate in the fall or do any soil disturbing lawn maintenance when the seed is less likely to germinate. Then you have runners and spreaders. These annoying weeds grow from one central location. Then the weed sends out a runner either above the surface or just below it. The runner will then root at intervals creating new plants that in turn send out other runners. Many weeds persist against all counter attacks because they use the underground tactic. One familiar example is the dandelion. These weeds have a deep, taproot system dotted with dormant buds. Other weeds in this category pull out easily but leave behind small tubers that grow into new plants. Some weeds have such extensive root systems that penetrate deep into the soil they are impossible to completely pull up. The last kind of attack is chemical warfare, actually called allelopathy. This process begins when certain types of weeds like the Quackgrass and Johnsongrass emit toxic chemicals from their roots slowing the growth of your lawn. Stay tuned for Part II on how to fight back! Adam Boulton is an experienced gardener and lawn care specialist. Todo el mundo By Natalie Aranda A common mistake when planning a garden is not deciding on your garden's design before you begin planting. If you take into consideration all aspects of what you would like to see in your garden, then chances are the end result is going to be beautiful. If you are just starting out, it might be a good idea to talk to a professional gardener to get advice on how best to lay out your garden. Many gardeners are willing to do a consult with you and some will even do it for free. You will need to determine the location of your garden first, so that you will know the amount of light that your garden will receive. Plants, flowers and vegetables vary greatly in the amount of light that is required for them to succeed. If your garden is going to be in the shade, make sure that items you include in your garden are able to grow under these conditions. Perhaps the most important thing to do when you begin your garden design is to fence your garden in. Fencing your garden has several advantages. First, it helps to protect your garden from critters who are apt to destroy or damage it. It also helps to set firm boundries for the garden and help you establish where you want to plant. But besides the practical, fenced in gardens can look especially beautiful. You have several options when creating a garden fence. You can make it out of wood or dry stones. The best choice is probably vinyl fencing. A vinyl fence looks very attractive, but it also is easy to maintain and can withstand the elements as well as any animals that might try to damage your fence or garden. Vinyl fencing can be purchased in ready made form to save you time and energy. Once you have selected your fence, map out where you are going to plant each item. Make sure you give plenty of room for each plant and consider what will happen if one of your plants is an overachiever. You don't want your garden to suffer because you packed it too full. Consider adding some interesting design elements to your garden. One choice is evergreens. Evergreens work well in a garden because they smell great, have cones and berries and are very versatile. Another option to consider is pansies. Pansies are tough flowers and they can bloom even when it snows! If you carefully design your garden you will have year round beauty. The best tip for garden design is simply to design it. Many gardeners will overlook this crucial first step. If you take the time to plan out your garden, both in terms of design and when is the ideal time to plant, you will be the envy of your neighborhood soon. Natalie Aranda writes on home and garden. Todo el mundo By Thomas Murrell Introduction Many businesses and organisations have a perception that marketing means promotions and advertising. They think being good at marketing is producing a glossy brochure and having an ad on the local radio or television. But marketing is much more than slick promotions and expensive pamphlets. It is about a process and having a clear strategy. It is also about structuring every aspect of your business to include a marketing function. It is also about understanding marketing strategies, the tools of marketing and the language of marketing. Many people are frightened or are put off by the jargon and concepts put forward by so called marketing experts. This article attempts to simplify the process. To provide a "how to" of what's required to develop winning marketing ideas. Many people also believe they are too busy or don't have enough time or energy to develop marketing ideas. It doesn't have to be difficult or complex. Many great marketing strategies are very simple and straightforward. In fact, I believe everyone has a great marketing idea inside of him or her just waiting to come out! Whats stopping you from taking the next step? My goal is to help you overcome any procrastination and provide a framework where your ideas can grow and prosper. How will I know if I've been succesful? Well if I've been entertaining and informative - I'm in the "Edutainment" business. And if I've delivered what I call the "Three H's". HEAD - provided information and knowledge that's tapped into your head. Some useful piece of new knowledge or information that's got your brain ticking over. HEART - Tapped into your emotions. Moved you in some way. Made you smile, laugh or get excited. HIP POCKET - I have yet to find anyone not interested in money. My goal is that in this session you will pick up something - a new idea, contact or concept that will help you make more money.
Why marketing ideas are important? Ideas, creativity and the ability of turning these into practical strategies will become the hallmark of successful businesses in the new millennium. Leading organisations will tailor all of their activities around these concepts to create a culture where ideas, innovation and a can-do marketing attitude are fostered. Truly successful companies are now doing this by building brands and customer loyalty around these names and symbols. It is the brand and the marketing processes around the brand that are the assets of new companies in this information age. With the huge amount of change happening - businesses and groups that are quick, nimble and have an ideas focus will have the potential to carve out new niches. They will be marketing and media savvy. In today's highly dynamic global business environment, truly successful leaders will know how to harness both marketing ideas and the power of the media. We are living through some of the largest social and economic changes we've ever faced. We're in the midst of a great gold rush, the likes of which we haven't witnessed in a hundred years. Marketing ideas are the gold of the 21st century. What is marketing? What does marketing mean to you? How would you define marketing? If you believe marketing is about selling or promotions, you're only partly right. Marketing is much more. Here is my definition I give to clients, customers and people who attend my presentations and workshops. Marketing is...
What you do to ultimately get or keep a customer.
About positioning.
About process
Entering a new paradigm. It means structuring every activity within your business to meet the needs of your customer.
Take a moment to compare your views on marketing with the latest thinking on marketing. Are you prepared to shift? To see how marketing touches on every aspect of how you interact with customers and how you run and operate your business. If you've been able to shift your focus and change your attitude on marketing its now time to move on and develop your BIG MARKETING IDEA. Top 10 Reasons Stopping People Achieving their BIG MARKETING IDEA Many people never achieve their true potential in achieving their goals, dreams and aspirations. From my experience as a broadcaster, manager and marketer here are my Top 10 reasons stopping people from achieving their big marketing idea. 1. Not believing it can be done. The belief system has to be really strong. You really have to believe you can do it to overcome the hurdles. In 1992, the 500 farmers who started this Co-operative with $5000 must have had a really strong belief system they could make it work. 2. Doing Nothing. Some people just don't know what it takes. Instead of starting on a path they do nothing for fear of doing the wrong thing. 3. Don't think they have an idea or solution to a problem. Some people keep their ideas and solutions locked up inside them and neither see them or acknowledge them. It often takes an outsider to bring them out. Why not get an outsiders view of the challenge and brainstorm some solutions. 4. Not believing you can make money out of it. You often hear people moaning about being stuck in a job because it pays the bills or doing something because that's the way it's always been done. People are motivated by the need for food and shelter and your need to believe you can make money from your idea or solution. 5. Don't have time? Many people are caught up in the rush and "busyness" of today's life. I'm not suggesting you add more to your life by adding an extra action point, job or task to your "To Do List". I'm recommending you do less and eliminate something! If you watched one hour less of television per week that would give you 52 hours. What would you do with 52 hours of extra time? 6. Don't have enough resources? People often say they need resources - money, infrastructure, computers, printers and the like. But how much money does it take to write an idea down and then communicate it to someone else? 7. Persistence! You're likely to come up against a 100 barriers before you succeed. Persistence is vital in breaking through the barriers. 8. Is it practical? Is the idea or solution practical and does it work? Take the example of NASA in the US. They spent a million dollars developing a ballpoint pen that works in zero gravity! The Russians gave their cosmonauts pencils. 9. Are you afraid? Many people are afraid of many things - success, failure, rejection or just being different. These fears can become barriers. 10. Not being ready Many people are aware that what they're doing is not what they really want to do and creating barriers for others. They recognise the need to change and shift their thinking. They're just not ready at that moment in time to make the change. So that's what's stopping people from putting in practice their BIG MARKETING IDEA. What are the success factors for Marketing Yourself, Your Business and Your Co-Operative? 10 Tips on Marketing In summary here are 10 Tips on marketing. 1. Clarify your mission. 2. Have a plan and set some goals and strategies. 3. Know your strengths and build on these. 4. Identify and talk to your customers. 5. Find out who your competitors are? 6. Put a value on your service. 7. Let people know about your service. 8. Add value to existing services. 9. Differentiate your service from others. 10. Evaluate and review on a regular basis. Todo el mundo By Nikoletta Bocz What good is an old box and some napkins? We can make a beautiful present for someone or we can hold little things in it.
We need the following materials:
box 3 different napkins varnish (decoupage lacquer: this is a glue as well in one block) brush, scissors
We will make the side of the box. The napkins generally consists of 3 or 4 layers. We need only the upper coloured or patterned layer. The lower layers must have removed. (We won't coat the bottom of the box, because it causes that the box will close hard.) You should anoint the box with the varnish and put the tailor-made napkin on it. With the brush you need to stroke the napkin. After, you should anoint the napkin as well with the varnish. In the picture you can see it: Picture1 We will use 2 kind of napkins for the top of the box. Firstly we will gluing the frame and after, the main picture. Picture2 Finally we will anoint the whole box with the varnish (in plenty). And we can see the result! I made this box for my husband, because his hobby is the fishing. Another idea: you can prepare a personal gift with the help of this technology. The number of the opportunities are no end of. Picture3 You can find pictures on my website. Todo el mundo By Carmel Baird The fashion today is so very pretty and what adds to making it so very pretty is the use of ruffles. They do take a little time to sew but once the garment is finished are well worth the effort. Once you learn the ins and outs of ruffles, then you can add then to a garment you are making without the ruffle being included in the original pattern. You just need to learn how to make the ruffles. Ruffles, when produced by hand, can take some time, but worth the effort. But...if you have a sewing machine with a zig-zag stitch, a ruffler attachment and a narrow hemmer, like a rolled hem attachment, then you can have a lot of fun making ruffles without much effort on your part. The wider the ruffle, the fuller they need to be. The rule of thumb is sheer fabrics need three times the finished ruffle and weightier fabrics only need two and a half times the finished length . Once you have decided on your width and fullness of the ruffles, measure out on your fabric and start cutting out the fabric, remember to allow for hems. I like to make a template from light cardboard, like manila folder thickness, of the finished width of the ruffle, use as a guide
to cut the fabric, allow for the hems. Then you can use the same template for pressing up the hems to sew. alternatively make two templates, one with hems added for the measuring and cutting and the other without hems for the pressing. This saves a lot of tedious measuring. Join sections together, end to end, that's the width and make one continuous length Stitch a narrow double folded hem along one long edge. If your ruffle is going to be on the outside, then you need to stitch both long edges with the narrow double-folded hems. If you have a ruffler attachment for your sewing machine, then attach it and do a test ruffle so you can get the right fullness, follow the instructions for your ruffler attachment. If you don't have a ruffler attachment, then you can make the ruffles this way. You need the zig-zag stitch for your machine, set to a very wide width and length. This will need a little practice too before you take on the ruffle. You will need a strong cord, something like dental floss is good or a crochet thread. Lay this along the stitching line and being very careful not to catch the floss or thread, zig-zag over it. When you have stitched the length of the ruffle, secure one end of the floss or thread by tying a large knot in it so it won't pull through. Now pull the other end of the floss or thread until you have the desired length of the ruffle and secure at that end. Divide the finished length of your ruffle into 4 equal measures. If the
finished length will be say 36 inches, then mark out on your template 9 inches. Use this as a guide for getting the gathering even. Start by gathering up the ruffle in sections to the 9 inches and pin each section as you go, then machine stitch the ruffle, cord side up and keep gathers even on both sides of the pressure foot. If you don't have a machine, then run a basting stitch along the ruffle sections and gather up using the same method as above to get them evenly gathered. Now you can add ruffles to any garment you desire, it is all in the knowing how.
